PaddleFest 2017, Save the Date!

Buena Vista is a hub for the Colorado whitewater community. Old kayaks repurposed as planters are placed all around town. Over coffee at the Roastery you’ll often over-hear conversations about paddling gear, a great surf session at Staircase, or epic carnage at Pine Creek. Fresh off the river you can visit the Eddyline Brewery and order beers like the Boater Beer or River Runner. Buena Vista is a whitewater town through and through and Colorado Kayak Supply (the local paddling shop) has played a huge role in maintaining the towns culture.

On Memorial Day Weekend CKS hosts Paddlefest the season kick-off event for us here at Badfish and for the entire Colorado whitewater scene. It’s what we as paddlers look forward to as our chance to shake off the rust from the Winter and reunite with our paddling clan. We’ll compete alongside each other for a cash purse in River Surfing and the SUPHill Downhill race. All of which takes place at the BV Whitewater park making it spectator friendly and trust us we will give you show. But it’s more than that, we view it as the all-in-one event that encompasses everything we love about this community.

CKS will be offering in-store discounts on all gear and we’ll be there to give you the knowledge on everything from our boards to other pieces of gear around the shop. We want to make sure you’re set up with the best equipment for your abilities before you hit the water.

One of our favorite parts of the event is the multitude of educational clinics that are offered such as the Learn to Surf Clinic, Essentials to River SUP, and the SUP Race Clinic taught by Team Badfish. We’ve seen many people come into the weekend as a beginner and leave a confident whitewater paddler and/or river surfer.
And, if you don’t care about any of these things theres live music, beer gardens, and after parties…so, there’s that.

See you there!
