The 2022 Badfish IRS features the Patented Wiki Rail Tail creating a clean release, improving rail bite and surfing performance.  Unlike taxes, the IRS (Inflatable River Surfer) is all about fun. Since we introduced the IRS, it has become the “gateway board” of choice for many river surfers, with more people learning to river surf on the IRS than any other SUP on the market. The IRS is stable for beginners but won’t disappoint seasoned river shredders looking for an inflatable option.

Makes a small mellow river a surfing adventure.

I purchased my IRS in time for the last float trip of the season. It was an organized autumn float down a section of the Rio Grande with a large group of paddlers. This was my first experience with stand-up-paddle-boarding, and I've recently picked up river surfing at our local wave on the Chama, just below Abiquiu Dam, for which I use the iSK8. If you've never paddle-boarded, it takes some time to feel steady, but by the end of the seven-mile trip, I felt quite at home on my board. The biggest highlights of the float were the few instances where I attempted to surf on a few natural wave features. The smaller size of the IRS and its rocker curvature allow for a lot of playfulness in these situations. Other reviewers mention it would be great to have a cargo net to haul some stuff, but this is a pretty small board for that. I had my lunch and drinks stashed on my family's boat and resting my elbows on their boat while floating on my board made for a relaxing lunch break. I'm amazed by the construction and stiffness of the IRS. The paddle is wonderfully ergonomic and well-made too. If I were sitting in a boat for a trip like this, I would have enjoyed the beauty of the golden cottonwoods and the New Mexico landscape for a very mellow stretch of river, but riding my own Inflatable River Surfer made it an adventure, and the mini-rapids were exciting. I did hit a few rough spots perched on my knees instead of standing, but like I said, by the end, I felt much more stable and confident to navigate standing up. I never want to sit in a boat again!

Awesome River Surfer

Great board if you are just getting into river surfing. Easy to catch waves and practice your balance. Works for body surfing as well as sup surfing. Wiki rail provides great steering control and ability to Ollie the board. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the wiki rail has started to come unglued after only a month and a half of use. Other than that the board and fins are super durable for whitewater padding.

Great for beginners

Great board to learn on for the new river surfer. Can take the inevitable damage, and it’s east to transport and store

Great for beginners

This is a great board for beginners getting into river surfing. Can take the inevitable knocks as you learn, and transports and stores easily.

A community board

The best board to learn how to river surf on! Local to Dayton, OH I took one lesson on this board and fell in love I’ve been more involved in the river and community since. Im always trying to get more of my circle into the river and this board gives them the confidence to come back. Great board for beginners or any water level!
