- Zack Hughes
Full disclosure; I've been involved in the evolution of this board with my expedition paddling buddies Zack Hughes and Mike Tavares, both of Badfish. We paddled hundreds, or perhaps more than a thousand miles on self supported trips on multiple models of boards. We ultimately landed on the shape and design of the Selfie 14 as the ultimate tool for the job. We love to pack up for 5-7 days and disappear into the wilderness of the desert Southwest, but this board is equally at home for a 1/2 day trip on your local lake or river. The entire package has been thought through, from the tapered tail to enhance board glide, the perfectly place d-rings for rigging dry bags or coolers, the water bottle holder placed within a close reach of the paddling position, and the 3 fin boxes for ultimate flexibility and maneuverability. If you love camping, backpacking, and being on the water. Why not take an adventure on the Selfie 14?
On self supports or long paddles this board will turn into your best friend! I can honestly say that this board has more self support/adventure R&D testing than any other board on the planet. About 1,000 river miles and years of self support trip testing went into this beauty and it truly shows in the design and implementation. The last 166 miles I spent on this board were absolutely a dream. The features that stand out for me are the storage and D Ring placement necessary for perfect dry bag storage. When you're on this board, it's easy to tell that a ton of thought and testing went into its design and it's a dream to paddle.
