I first tried this board out when I started working with CANRVRSUP this summer in the Canadian Rockies. Before this opportunity, I only paddled flat water a couple times. Without the Rivershred, I don't believe I would've fell in love with whitewater as quickly as I did. This baby is amazing. It rides through ripples smoothly, through rapids with grace, and on flat water fast. THIS THING IS WICKED FUN FOR ANY AGE. I have limited mobility in my right leg due to Cerebral Palsy, and I can balance and manoeuvre the board with ease.
Set Up: Badfish has created the ultimate whitewater SUP kit. Pumping up takes less than 5 minutes. The pumps works great, the dual action is nice when the pressure makes it tough, and a perfect size for packing on multi-days. The bag they give you has shoulder straps and a waist strap, and can fit everything in it with extra room for gear. Roll it up and store nice and small with a cam strap. It is a little heavy to carry, but once you have the bag fitted right, you can walk down to the river with only an elevated heart rate and a few pants. Once the board is pumped, it is surprisingly light. Grab handles are in the perfect place for carrying yourself, getting on your board, or having one person at the front and back for carrying (MY FAV, PADDLE WITH BUDDIES). They give you a few fin options to curate to your paddling goal styles. Multiple boards stack really nicely on top of each other without fins. They can be easily strapped down to roof racks, and actually fit inflated inside my SUV.
Board: The rockered shape allows you to really have fun in the waves, while giving you confidence to break through. It is a great size for most paddler sizes. Getting back on is easy. The grip mat for your feet is fantastic, even when slippery. Gear straps can fit a medium sized dry bag and water bottle you name it. I also take it on flatwater, so you could fish on it etc. Surfing is really fun on this baby. Use the center fin and get ready for some crazy rides. The inside (check out skeleton schematic), allows for water to run smoothly below the board so that you don't feel it under your feet. AMAZING. I got my own board at the end of the season and I cant wait to take it out. 11/10 recommend, for beginners or advanced, class 2-4, multidays or quick surf sessions, this thing will take you there :)
